The stages of BURN-OUT (Mattingly 1977)
1) Constant vague feelings of personal distress with frequent headaches, sweating, dry mouth, thumping heart or butterflies in you stomach.
2) Feelings of reluctance to go to work.
3) Feeling tired, irritable, mildly-depressed and bored, life is a crisis all the time.
4) Feeling that something bad is going to happen.
5) Feeling overworked.
6) Becoming less flexible. May be cynical or negative. Start to reduce social contacts.
7) Finding it difficult to make decisions and to concentrate.
8) Withdrawing from people and activities. Miss meetings, eat lunch alone, avoid other colleagues by arriving early and leaving late.
9) Reduction in your effectiveness at work.
