SPINNING SPIDERS
If you wish your home to thrive allow a spider to survive.
Spiders are not insects.
Spiders belong to the
ARACHNID
family.
The word ARACHNID originates from the Greek meaning-
JOINTED FOOT
Many insects are vegetarian but arachnids are
PREDATORS
and feed mainly on insects.
Most spiders have:
8
legs
8
single eyes.
6
spinnerets or spinning tubes under the abdomen.
A spider has
2
parts to its body.
The thorax and abdomen.
A spider does not have a separate head.
The thorax and the head are fused together and are NOT separate as in insects.
Spiders are sensitive to smells and sounds and every hair on their legs and body is a feeler.
Spiders do not change as they grow up. Baby spiders look just like their parents. They are quite plump little creatures with short legs.
A spider's eight eyes and stomach are in the front half.
Its eight legs also grow here.
A spider has a hard shell which it must shed now and again so that it can grow.
